Course Standards

Certification Requirements

Candidates aiming to become Divemasters are expected to fulfill the following course standards and certification prerequisites:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in various areas, including theoretical knowledge and practical skills, as outlined in the PADI Divemaster Manual or through Divemaster eLearning. This includes successfully completing Knowledge Reviews and passing the Divemaster Final Exam.
  • Develop a comprehensive Emergency Assistance Plan for a specific dive site.
  • Exhibit competence in fundamental water skills.
  • Undergo a thorough evaluation of diver rescue techniques.
  • Participate in a dive skills workshop and evaluation.
  • Apply practical skills in real-life scenarios.
  • Engage in divemaster-conducted programs and workshops.
  • Successfully complete practical assessments to demonstrate proficiency.
  • Fulfill the criteria for professionalism as specified.

Upon certification, candidates must meet the following additional requirements:

  • Maintain a log of a minimum of 60 scuba dives, including experience in night diving, deep diving, and underwater navigation.
  • Complete EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within a 24-month period.
  • Familiarize themselves with and agree to abide by the PADI Membership and License Agreements.
