Program Standards The Master Scuba Diver rating is the pinnacle of recreational diving achievements within the PADI System, signifying a diver with exceptional experience and accomplishment.
Certification Requirements: To obtain the prestigious Master Scuba Diver rating, divers must fulfill the following requirements:
- Minimum age of 12 years old. However, divers between the ages of 12 and 14 may earn the Junior Master Scuba Diver certification.
- Hold valid certifications as a PADI (Junior) Advanced Open Water Diver and a PADI (Junior) Rescue Diver.
- Earn certification in five PADI Specialty or TecRec courses. It is important to note that these specialty or TecRec certifications must be from PADI; no other certifications are eligible. It is also possible to receive credit for one PADI Freediver certification (excluding the Basic level).
- Log a minimum of 50 dives. The logbook serves as a testament to the diver’s experience and depth of immersion in various diving environments.
These requirements, combined with extensive training and hands-on experience, ensure that Master Scuba Divers possess a comprehensive skill set and knowledge base to tackle diverse diving challenges.
Note: For divers pursuing the Junior Master Scuba Diver certification, the age and certification requirements remain the same. However, the certification is specifically tailored for divers between the ages of 12 and 14, acknowledging their accomplishments within the scope of their age and experience level.
