Snorkeling

Program Standards Certification Requirements: To achieve certification, participants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Engage in a knowledge development session, which involves acquiring a comprehensive understanding of the necessary scuba diving principles and concepts.
  • Meet the confined water performance requirements by demonstrating the required skills and competency in a controlled environment.

Depth: During the certification process, participants will engage in activities at a maximum depth of 5 meters or 15 feet. This depth limit ensures a safe and controlled environment for the participants to practice their skills and gain confidence underwater.

Diver Prerequisites: Participants must be at least 8 years old to take part in the program. This age requirement ensures that participants possess the physical and cognitive abilities necessary to engage in the activities safely.

Equipment: Participants are required to have the following scuba diving equipment:

  • Mask: Essential for clear vision underwater.
  • Fins: Aid in propulsion and maneuverability.
  • Snorkel: Allows breathing on the water’s surface before or after scuba diving.
  • Buoyancy Control Device: Enables divers to control their buoyancy and maintain a comfortable position in the water.

Additionally, participants may choose to use a snorkeling vest or a buoyant exposure suit if necessary. If weights are worn, participants must be buoyant at the surface after exhaling and to a depth of at least 5 meters or 15 feet.

It is important to ensure that all equipment is properly fitted, in good working condition, and appropriate for the specific dive conditions.

Please note that the specific equipment requirements may vary depending on the training organization and the instructor’s recommendations. Always follow the guidelines provided by the instructor and refer to any additional materials or resources provided.
